| Caroline Tabac Shank was born in Cannes, in the south of France, in 1970. After moving to the United States in 2001, she studied metal sculpting at the Miami Art center and began creating the first of her many unique pieces. She quickly found her style and voice with the sleekness of the steel rod that she sometimes combines with stone and wood. In 2004, she opened her Studio - Gallery at the Stutz business center in downtown Indianapolis, where her sculptures are on display and where people can visit with the artist at work. Her art creates an abstract realism, possessing a quiet sensitivity, balancing between elegance and the sublime. She defines empty space by trapping it into open metal sculpture so everyone can find their own place within each individual work of art. Her creations, with wisps of the whimsical, somehow seek to overcome the daily mundane bits of life that surround us all ... |
